To celebrate Sonic the Hedgehog's 26th birthday this summer,Watch Serve the People Online Anippon teamed up with Sega to create some Sonic-inspired shoes for all the fans who took one look at Sonic's classic red and white shoes and thought, "I need those."
The shoes cost about $60, which honestly isn't a terrible price, but you could do so much better than these shoes. Sonic fans have been creating their own, better versions of these Anippon shoes for years.
SEE ALSO: Tons of classic Sega games are coming to your phone (for free!)First of all, if you truly want to emulate the world's fastest blue hedgehog you probably shouldn't be sprinting around in faux-leather loafers. What you should be wearing are these custom Jordans.
Alternatively, you could just grab some of these shoe covers on Etsy and turn any regular pair of shoes you own into a pair of Sonic's iconic sneakers.
Not everyone wants to go fast though, which is fine. Some people just want to affect that Sonic aesthetic. If you're a DIY kind of person, you could make your own shoes with some red paint, a recycled buckle, and masking fabric tape like this clever DeviantArt user did.
You could even skip the red paint and just add the strap and buckle on top of these red Vans, which it looks like Anippon used to create its own Sonic shoes anyway.
Or you could take your inspiration from this other DeviantArt user.
If you're feeling extra stylish and don't have the time to make your own pair of sneakers (and have $700 burning a hole in your pocket), you could go with these suede Valentinos.
Maybe flats aren't your thing. Maybe you need a bit of heel in your life. Don't worry, DeviantArt has you covered once again.
There are tons of Sonic-inspired shoes out there, you just have to find the pair that's right for you.
