According to Electrek, the program to develop the heavy-duty truck is being led by Tesla’s former Model S Program Director and VP of Vehicle Engineering, Jerome Guillen. The vehicle will most likely incorporate Tesla's autopilot technology currently in the Model S and X, and could potentially revolutionize the long-haul trucking industry.
But that's not all the CEO had to share. Musk also confirmed that a long-rumored Tesla pickup truck will be unveiled in "18 to 24 months."

Musk hasn't said much in the past about the pickup truck outside of his broad "Tesla master plan," but he did tweet in 2013 that he'd like to do "Something w ultra low cg for sports car handling, dynamic air suspension & mega torque."
Sounds fun.
Oh, and for those looking for even more news, Musk is happy to oblige. The next-generation Tesla Roadster is going to be great for sunny days.

Clearly, Musk and Tesla have been hard at work — and not just on delivering a record number of cars or becoming the most valuable car company in the United States.
