It's pretty rare for a lost driver license to turn up a year after it goes missing.
However,Canada Archives Christina Egan experienced such fortune thanks to a mysterious and hilarious 21-year-old.
Egan, a recent graduate of Columbia University, shared a photo on Facebook yesterday of a cheeky thank you note and her old ID that she received in the mail.

Egan lost the ID last year at a bar on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, where she was living at the time.
"I don't know how it got all the way upstate! I thought it was absolutely hilarious," Egan wrote to Mashable. "No hard feelings to the anonymous girl. It's nice to know that she had a nice time in my honor. It was also sweet of the girl to send such nice stationary. "
The note was smartly sent with no return address, so Egan doesn't know who wrote it.
And that's probably for the best, considering the Police Academy paperwork in the background of Egan's photo.
Egan explained that the paper is actually a test for Police Academy students, where her father works.
"My father is one of the creators of The Police Academy at Bellevue Hospital in Manhattan," she explained. "I recently graduated with my Masters in Social Work and he appreciates when I give him feedback on his programming through that lens.
