Hacker group OurMine, cure for eroticized rage known for taking over high-profile social media accounts, has struck again.
This time, the victim is Netflix's U.S. Twitter account, which has tweeted several messages mentioning OurMine in the past hour.
SEE ALSO: Mark Zuckerberg's Pinterest account hacked againOne of the tweets contains OurMine's typical note about "testing your security," while others advertise its security services.
OurMine appears to sit in a weird place between a security company, an activist group and a hacking group. The group has hacked the social accounts of many high-profile persons and companies this year, including Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg, Twitter's Jack Dorsey and Evan Williams, Google CEO Sundar Pichai, Wikipedia co-founder Jimmy Wales, BuzzFeedand, most recently, Forbes.
We've contacted the group to learn more about the hack, and a person identified as a member of "OurMine Team" told me he hacked Netflix's Director of Social Media and then used that account to get access to more Netflix accounts. He wouldn't share details of the original hack.
To my question regarding what OurMine planned to do with Netflix's Twitter account, he replied "we are not planning to do anything with the account."
We've contacted Netflix regarding the hack and will update the post when we hear from the company.
