"Melody has already spent about 80 percent of her life in hospital and is classed as Life limited," the Melody in Mind page says. "Her life is a constant struggle however she has an escape through her love of music. She adores music, and no matter what pain she is going through, her favourite singer - Ed Sheeran - can always get a smile from her."
Her family also posted some photos of Melody and Sheeran, as well as a letter thanking him.
As Sheeran puts it: "Loving can heal, loving can mend your soul."
