Before the 2016 election,Monica Swinn celebrities and prominent social figures were stepping out of the woodwork to support candidate and encourage fans to vote for Hillary Clinton.
Now that president-elect Donald Trump has been elected, messages of support continue— albeit with a different tone.
In an essay for Broadlypublished today, Jennifer Lawrence urged people to think "strongly and clearly" about next steps rather than point fingers or "riot in the streets."

"If you're worried about racial violence, loveyour neighbor more than you've ever tried to before—no matter what they believe or who they voted for," Lawrence explained. "If you're afraid of a wall putting us all into another recession, then organize and stand against it."
Lawrence, who recently encouraged fans to vote over FaceTime, has not been shy about being candid about her feelings.
"My view on the election is pretty cut-and-dried: If Donald Trump is president of the United States, it will be the end of the world," she told Vogue last year.
Now that he has been elected, Lawrence's message to women, minorities, LGBTQ communities and people of color is one of determination.
"Do not let this defeat you—let this enrage you!" she wrote.
